About 100 experts, scholars and guests from 23 countries, including China, attended the forum, which was themed "Women's International Communications and the Building of a Human Community with a Shared Future".
Lin Yi, Vice-President of the All-China Women's Federation, said at the opening ceremony that in the past decade, the role of Chinese women in socioeconomic development has been highlighted.
Women these days are better educated, enjoy more social security benefits and have been increasingly contributing to democracy building and politics, she said.
